I have always wanted to start a site. I wanted to talk about my life but I contemplated. Then I met Jay. Then I wanted to start a site for us. But I procrastinated. More than two years later, this is what I have now, a humble beginning. Just like any couples, we have been through many good and hard times together and this is one reason what this site is for: to put down our story in writing. So that this blog will witness our existence and hopefully we can flip through the archives one day and laugh at the silly things we did and be touched by Jay's heroic deed. Hi, I am Kay, we are boyfriends and this is the our story.
I'm Kay

I'm Jay

I had the pleasure of cooking for a special guest on a Saturday few weeks back. It wasn't an easy task I have to admit. The last time I cooked a full meal complete with desserts was like, say, 10 years ago, during my scouting years. It was hard back then because it was backwoodsman cooking. It is equally hard too now even though I have the kitchen but the cleaning up is troublesome.
Ok, let this be a pictorial guide.
I went to the hypermarket in the late Saturday morning to get my groceries. I had prepared a menu of food to cook and even listed all the ingredients. So with the list I went to shop. About an hour later I came back with these:
The bill came to about 50 bucks.
First, the soup. Because it's best to boil it for hours I had to start with the soup first. Cleaned the chicken and took mostly the bones for the soup.
Then peeled the potatoes and onions. And carrots. Then sliced and diced them all along with the tomatoes. Then boiled them all in a pot with the chickens and black pepper for taste.
Next I wanted to cook an omelette but ended up getting the whole thing smashed up. Nevertheless it still tasted good.
Followed by the next dish, a simple one- stirfry beansprouts.
Then came the chickens. Still got plenty left after I took some for the soup. I was thinking of kungpow chicken because I like the spicy taste but after some deliberation I decided not to and in a split second I thought of cooking it with marmite. I have a bottle of marmite that I spread on my bread sometimes so I ran to my bedroom and grabbed the bottle off my desk (I hope I'm not the only one who keeps food in the bedroom). Started off marinating the chicken and then cooked it in the wok. With enough seasoning, this dish came out pretty tasty. In fact, this dish got thumbs up from my special guest.
*Half the bottle of marmite gone for the making of this product.
Followed by 3 more dishes...
Finally after 4 hours of preparation...Ta-Daa!!
A dinner for two. Oh yeah served with rice too of course and banana split for desserts. Special guest brought 2 slices of cakes too.
I have to admit I might score low on the food presentation. I could have put more effort in the garnishing but anyway, we enjoyed our meal. Had a good rest after that.
Behind the scenes: Lots of scrubbing on the wok. Cleaning the oily kitchen floor and tiles and a tough time remembering where to put the utensils back to their drawers and cabinets.
Xavier - I just remembered I have a bottle of peanut butter and a half-packet of oreo hidden behind a pile of magazines next to my lamp on my desk. Oh yes, chili sauce and campbell soup in my wardrobe too! :P
